Marouane Fellaini Manchester United transfer
A Manchester United transfer bid could shortly be launched for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini in a move which would signal the end of United’s interest in Cesc Fabregas.
Fellaini has a £23.5million release clause in his contract at Goodison Park which can only be activated by a club playing in the Champions League. However, the clause expires on the 14th of this month – in just one week’s time.
Two Manchester United transfer bids have been rejected for Fabregas and Barcelona claimed on Sunday that the Premier League champions have now ended their interest in the Spain international. However, rumours persist about a third bid although this is looking more unlikely with each passing day.
Fabregas’s public silence over the matter for almost two months has been a cause of concern to Barcelona. It had been thought he would be one of the first players in front of the microphones last week after he returned to pre-season training but that hasn’t been the case. He is due to give a press conference on Thursday where he is expected to pledge his immediate future to Barcelona.
In the meantime, United are expected to turn to Fellaini, a player whom manager David Moyes knows well from his time at Everton. The Daily Mirror claims today that an initial Manchester United transfer bid won’t match the full amount of Fellaini’s £23.5million release clause. That’s likely to lead Everton to dig in their heels over a move. Even so, an eventual Manchester United transfer looks to be on the cards, though at a slightly lower price than £23.5million.

Arsenal have also been linked though Arsene Wenger has baulked both at the value of the release clause and at Fellaini’s reported £100,000-a-week wage demands.
